Registration Cancellation Assurance
"It provides refunds in case of many unexpected
events that would cause you to miss the Expo"
In
order to help you reduce your risk of loss should your plans change, we
now offer Registration Cancellation Assurance, under which you can
receive a 100% refund on:
- your registration fee
- seminar and session
tickets
- Pre-Expo Pitch Boot Camp
- tickets to receptions.
If you cancel your Expo registration or do not attend the Expo at all for a covered reason.
Golden Pitch Fest tickets are not covered. For only $15 for a Basic
Pass or $20 for a Gold Pass, you can insure yourself against a loss of
your registration fee if you need to cancel for reasons covered by the
policy.
This Assurance is offered and administered by The
Screenwriting Expo and Creative Screenwriting Magazine. Here is how
the Assurance works in conjunction with our
Refund and Cancellation Policy:
- If you cancel for any reason by Aug. 15,
2011, you will receive a 100% refund of registration, seminar,
reception, and other event fees (other than Golden Pitch tickets and
the Assurance fee itself) regardless of whether you
have purchased Registration Cancellation Assurance.
- If
you cancel in writing for any reason after Aug. 15 or simply fail to show up, but you DO NOT have
Registration Cancellation Assurance (or if you cancel for a reason not covered or fail to document a claim), you are covered by the Next Year
Policy.
Under the Next Year Policy, you are entitled to a registration at
the next Screenwriting Expo after paying a $20 processing fee.
- If you buy Registration Cancellation Assurance, and if you cancel (or
simply fail to attend) AND you request and refund and document within 60 days that the reason
for your cancellation/no show was any of the events covered by the
policy, you will receive a 100% refund on registration and paid session
fees other than Golden Pitch tickets. You would not receive a refund
of your Assurance payment.
You cannot receive both a "Next Year" registration and a refund for the same registration.
This Assurance is completely optional, but must be purchased when making
your registration. It cannot be added later. Again, to receive a
refund under the Assurance, you must have and be able to document that
your non-attendance was due to a reason covered by this policy. See below.
Terms of The Registration Cancellation Assurance Program:
1. Covered Events Causing Cancellation/Non-Attendance:
Here are the events covered by the policy which would trigger a refund:
- Injury
or Sickness, for which
you seek medical attention within 30 days before the Screenwriting Expo
(not during th Expo). You must provide a note from a physician.
- Loss of Life of yourself or of a member of your immediate family (husband, wife, father,
mother, brother, sister or child) within two weeks before the scheduled date
of the Screenwriting Expo.

tornado, mud slide, earthquake or collapse within 30 days before the Screenwriting Expo. Total loss means damage
rendering your primary residence uninhabitable by order of
an official such as a Fire Marshal. Eviction, voluntarily abandoning your home, and moving are not covered events.
- Cancellation
or incompletion of the Screenwriting Expo due to weather or other
catastrophic event such as an earthquake. HOWEVER: news reports saying
that Los Angeles is experiencing severe fires, floods, earthquakes, or
other natural catastrophes WILL NOT trigger this Assurance if the event
is held. Los Angeles is a big place, and news reports tend to sound
more catastrophic than reality.
- Strike, meaning a labor
action
resulting in the cessation of travel services necessary to
transport you to the event or a strike at the site which
causes the Screenwriting Expo to be canceled and not held in 2011.
- A subpoena or jury notice which
requires that you, you, be present or available in court during
the scheduled dates of the Screenwriting Expo.
- Flight
Cancellation or Delay,
which must render you unable to attend the event. For
registration fees to be reimbursed, you must provide
evidence that no other arrangements could be made for transportation to
the
event.
- Conflict in Travel Plans due to job change or directive
of your employer which require you to be elsewhere during the
Screenwriting Expo. The
conflict in travel plans must be verified in writing.
2. Events/Situations Not Covered By Registration Cancellation Assurance:
- If
you simply choose not to attend without one of the reasons or events
listed above.
- Failure to properly document any of the covered events above.
- Failure to make a claim within 60 days after the start of the Expo.
- Other reasons for cancellation or non-attendance which are not covered above.
