Why Does The Price Go Up Later?
Early registration benefits any meeting planner, helping to predict how much of every meeting resource to plan for. Late registrations force meeting planners into difficult choices -- to order too much and waste money, or order not enough and possibly upset registrants.

Because you help us save on waste and avoid shortages by registering early, we pass savings on to you.   Also see Saving You Money On The Screenwriting Expo Experience below.

Gold Pass
Or Basic Pass?

Compare Benefits:

The
Gold Pass
Is The Most Convenient.
It give you priority seating if you arrive before general seating begins (10 minutes into sessions).

With the Gold Pass, you receive:

    – Free early entry to all seminars.  Basic Pass registrants pay $5 in advance or $6 on site per seminar.  You can save up to $80.

    – Bypass the lines: priority seating at any event if you arrive early.  Seating is not absolutely guaranteed – some smaller seminars will fill up with earliest-arriving Gold Pass registrants – but in the vast majority of cases, a Gold Pass and early arrival will get you into an excellent seat.  It is the best assurance that you’ll see everything you want without the extra effort of buying tickets.

    – Bypass the ticket line.  A Gold Pass saves you from having to stand in line for event tickets.

    – Free tickets to all three networking parties.  At $30 each, this is a $90 value.

    – Priority access to special events, such as screenings, which may be set up later.

    – A Free subscription to Creative Screenwriting Magazine.  This is a $29.95 value in the US, $34.95 in Canada/Mexico, and $49.95 if you're from another country.

    – The right to buy tickets to the Golden Pitch event.

The Only Additional Possible Costs Incurred By Gold Pass Recipients Are:
  • Your meals, other than food provided at the receptions.  The Los Angeles Airport Hilton has excellent food options and there are other food options nearby..
  • Golden Pitch Tickets.  Only registrants can pitch, so you need a Gold or Basic Pass to pitch.  Tickets are an additional $25 each, or 20% off for five or more purchased together.
  • Special Events, if any.  We may co-sponsor a Pitch Boot Camp on Thursday, Oct. 7 before the Expo officially begins.  If so, both Gold Pass and Basic Pass registrations will need to buy tickets for this event.  Examples of other special events: a movie screening for which we have to rent the theater or projection equipment; or a special guest speaker whom we'd have to fly in First Class from out of town or pay a large speaking fee.
The Basic Pass Is The Most Economical:
With the Basic Pass, you can minimize costs if you are attending the Screenwriting Expo on a budget.

The Basic Pass gives you:

    – The right to buy tickets to individual seminars at $5 each/ or $6 on site.  NOTE: in rare instances, you may be denied a seat at a purchased session if it fills up with early-arriving "Gold Pass" registrants.  If that happens, you may exchange your ticket or receive a refund.   NOTE: there are some small meeting rooms in 2010; seating is not guaranteed.
    – The right to attend free events, including Guest of Honor sessions and free panels.
    – The right to buy tickets to evening Networking Receptions ($30 per ticket).
    – The right to buy a subscription to Creative Screenwriting Magazine at a discount price.

    – The right to buy tickets to the Golden Pitch event.

Everyone Must Have A Badge:

No one will be admitted to any event without a Basic Pass or Gold Pass badge.

Saving You Money On The Screenwriting Expo Experience

The Biggest And Least Expensive Screenwriting Meeting For Those On A Budget

The Screenwriting Expo is the biggest screenwriting meeting in the world, by far, in terms of what it offers -- more than 150 sessions each year, including seminars with world-recognized teachers, panels with working screenwriters and producers, Guest of Honor sessions with the top screenwriters in Hollywood, its own screenwriting and scene-writing competitions, one of the biggest pitch fests in the business, and an array of networking opportunities.

It is also the least expensive major screenwriting meeting in the world -- by far.  You can't get in the door at other major screenwriting meetings for under $225. At the Expo, you can attend a three full days of great seminars and Guest of Honor sessions for as low as about $135 total (based on three paid and two free sessions/day).

Travel And Lodging Costs To The Expo Slashed

The Hilton Hotel at Los Angeles Airport is the most luxurious hotel which has ever hosted the Screenwriting Expo or been the main Expo host hotel.  So you would expect that it would be the most expensive, right?

Wrong.  It is the LEAST expensive rate in many years for an Expo headquarters hotel.  We negotiated a single or double room rate of only $99.95 per night.   In addition:
  • The self-parking rate is a very low (for Los Angeles) $14.95\day
  • The hotel has a FREE shuttle from Los Angeles Airport, saving about $30 round trip compared to a shuttle to the downtown area.
  • We're negotiating a second hotel deal with a hotel just two blocks away for only $59.95 per night.  Breakfast and guest parking are included with that room rate.  This second hotel also has a free airport shuttle.
In all, compared to 2009 and to most prior years:
  • If you're traveling by air and you stay at the headquarters hotel, you'll save $103.71 on three nights' stay plus $30 compared to last year, for a total of $134 saved.
  • If you're traveling by air and if we finalize the second-hotel deal as expected, a  two-block walk will save you $246.50 on the room compared to last year, plus about $10/day on breakfast, plus $30 on the shuttle for total savings of $306. If you're traveling by car, savings at this hotel are $321 compared to last year.
$3 Bus to The Beach Or Shopping

Want to visit the beach?  Shop?  See some sights?  How is this for a deal: the airport hotels have a shuttle to Manhattan Beach and its environs for $3 round trip.  Ask at the front desk or concierge.  More information at this page.
